    Re: VHSL From Roanoke.com

Im all for it gchs_devils. Rename them and mix em up. In all honesty Richlands, Tazwell, Abingdon, Lebanon, Grundy, VHS, and John Battle could be in one district. Gate City, Lee High, Dickenson Co, Union, and Central in the other district and you got about all the 2A schools in the area in two districts. IMO those two districts would own the state championships year in and year out. Richlands could get over the hump, Gatecity will remain a powerhouse, Dickenson Co will be a monster (it may take a year or two to get going though) Union and Central will be very competitive. Lebanon, Grundy, and Tazwell have been down but I have all these teams be solid hard to beat in the past and they will get their edge back. john Battle and VHS both played better this season then they have in years. JMO but it would be hard pressed to find two better districts in the state then what these two would be.
You could break it up into 3 four team districts like Richlands, Tazwell, Grundy, and Abingdon in one. Dickenson Co, Union, Central, and Lee High in one. Gatecity, John Battle, VHS, and Lebanon in the other. Either way ya cut it it would make some good football.

You probably have a better feel for it than I do. The one thing that makes me thing AAA might (and thats a big might) go for it is because you can have mixed division districts. Thus allowing them to keep their schools who are natural local rivals in the same district they have now.

With 6A vs AAA the competition level will change ALOT. Hampton Crabbers may be a 6A and some of the teams in their district that they beat on may end up 5A which will get them a chance to make a playoff run that they normally may not get. I can see the bright side also being that in bigger student body schools their will be a little more separation than their is now. Id love to see it happen

If the future Dickenson County, Gate City, and Union are placed into a district together you talk about a slobberknocker of a district. This is off topic but I have thought all year what a monster of a team Dickenson County would have been this year if Clintwood could have had a couple of the skills players from Haysi. Dickenson County would still be a modest 2A school under this new system, no one in this area will be able to touch them if Coach Mullins takes the head job and continues his program.

So the consoladation will put Dickenson Co in 2A? If so I see GC, DC, Union, Central, and Lee in a district. Whoever comes out of that district alive will be ready for a deep run!

Just like I said, it would be a monster district with some of the meanest toughest players in the State. Not to mention come playoff time that Richlands will be in that mix and Tazwell (I know they blew this year but Tazwell usually has a good program). I think 2A would be a monster conferece state wide, especially down here

If Clintwood, Haysi, and Ervinton combined this year that would be about 750 students so that would put them in the same class as Union, Gate City, Lee, and Central. Im assuming that would be 2A.

Are you asking how many from each Dickenson County school? If not then I appologize. This year Cwood has 304, Haysi 285, Ervinton 158 for a total of 747. That may not be exact but its close. The website Im using is VHSL-REFERENCE | Virginia High School Football. Pretty cool site for looking up each teams stats.
